Nerissa (or Perseophone) bears eyes of a light blue/purple color and long silver hair. She stands at about 5’4”. She is usually seen wearing uniforms of some sort—semi-formal clothes and dress shoes. She keeps a rather tiny and skinny frame.

Her PB is Amamiya Ushio from Shinshi Doumei Cross.

As you might have guessed, Persephone is not exactly on friendly terms with strangers. She is wary of most, if not all, humans, for she has seen far too many who couldn’t handle the fact that the dead could exist with the living. She is civil, but distant.

Nonetheless, there are moments when she shows her vulnerability—the times when she gets tired of looking for a reliable pact-maker and getting betrayed by their greed of communicating with the dead, the times when she doesn’t know how she came to be all alone. These thoughts are usually well hidden underneath her emotionless, cold mask, but they surface every once in a while when she’s alone or with someone she trusts (if she can find a good number of people to trust with her heart, though, that would be just short of a miracle.)

Deep down inside, she is eager to find the right people to become friends with. She is experiencing a phase of denial, really, from the way Hades left her and how the pact-makers treated her so poorly.

Under the pseudonym of Nerissa Sabastian lies Persephone the Shade. She crossed over to the human world ages ago and hasn’t gone back since. She came through the portal with her significant other by the name of Hades; both had the power to control the dead, but their abilities were minimal at best back then. To lengthen their lives in the human world, they traveled to Greece, where many Shades and Spirits alike already resided. There, they found kings, queens, generals, and even commoners with whom they forged their pacts. Persephone’s power grew, and so did Hades’, and he eventually joined a group of otherworldly beings in an organization called the Olympians. The ancient Greeks feared them, but worshipped and revered them for their control over the dead. He was a god, and she, a goddess—until Greece fell, and he decided to leave her.

Persephone wandered the earth thereafter, forming pacts with many who wanted her powers. She met necromancers, insane doctors and scientists. In many cases, she had to break off the pact much to their protest, for they abused her powers and seemed not to understand the concept of coexisting with a Shade. Many exhausted her abilities until she hardly had any energy left; she lived in constant danger, until days eventually came when she neared the brink of death. Only then did she stop the pact and left in a hurry—that’s what cost her for believing in these humans, or so she thought.

In time, she strengthened enough to materialize, enabling her to take her power with her outside of pacts. She went by many identities to conceal who she was. After traveling through the continents of Africa, Asia, and America, Persephone set her sights once again on Europe, where her life in the human world began. Taking a new Greek identity upon herself, she decided to join the humans at Countshire University. She has always had a penchant and talent for music, after all.

Persephone possesses the ability to communicate with the souls of the dead in the other realm. She can momentarily become the portal between both worlds, sending messages back and forth. When she does so, she goes into a trancelike state, and her voice changes to that of the dead person. (Note: there are no visual changes whatsoever. Neither the dead person’s spirit nor body appears.)
