General Rules
- * Don't be an idiot;
- * Don't treat the mods like idiots;
- * Don't bitch in the game's communities or the IRC channel (IMs are your friends);
- * Don't delete entries unless you made them by mistake;
- * ICA=ICC;
- * NO FANART in character icons. You can use doujinshi as long as both the doujinshi title and author are credited either in icon keywords or your character journal's userinfo.
- * RTFM.;
Character Limit
- Currently, there's a character limit of three per player. For every additional month the player has been active for, they're allowed to apply for one extra character. So, for instance, a player who's been active for 10 months would have 3 (first month) + 9 (nine subsequent months) slots, for a total of 12 characters. In some cases you may be allowed to take up slots in advance.
Character Type Limit
- Currently, players are only allowed one character within the following types (you can have one of each, just no more than one): magicians, university staff (actually, just faculty), pact-makers (spirit and shade alike) OR spirits/shades (you have to pick one or the other), order members, nebelrose members. You may combine types if you want (ie a staffer that is part of the order), but that'll take up both slots. Also, characters who don't start out as any of the above (ie a normal human who forges a pact in-game) will not take up slots when they change status (so you'd still be able to app a pact-maker even after the pact happened in-game).
- There is no limit for normal human characters. Additionally, you get one more slot for any type you want per month of activity (ie, say you have a pact-maker, a normal human student and a staffer. On the 2nd month you may app either another pact-maker or another staffer, if you want) and you may not have more than three characters of a single type.
Overall Character Type Limit
- In addition to individual player limits, there are overall slots available for each character type, to help promote diversity/keep the proportion between them at first. Over time these limits will be gone, but at least at first, they'll need to be observed. Mod characters don't take up slots, and the same character can only take up one slot (ie, a shade pact-maker in the nebelrose would only use up the shade pact-maker slot.) These are changeable depending on how many players are in the game.
- Magicians: 4 families at first/+3 per month (so all families will be appable by the 3rd month);
- Nebelrose Members: 2 initial slots/+1 every 2 months;
- Order Members: 3 initial slots/+1 per month (high-ranking members unavailable until otherwise noted);
- Spirit Pact-Makers: 4 initial slots/+2 per month;
- Shade Pact-Makers OR Humans with Immunity: 2 initial slots/+1 per month;
- Spirits&Shades: as many slots as regular pact-makers (for spirits)/shade pact-makers + humans with immunity (for shades) being played.
Application Guidelines
- * Your character needs to be either university staff or a student, no matter what type of character - the only people with logins and blogs at the uni staff are people connected to it, so it's not possible to play someone outside of that spectrum since that's the main form of IC communication;
- * You may only apply for Magicians from families that are marked open for application here;
- * Please contact existing players if you plan on apping someone in their family;
- * You may only apply for Spirits and Shades if a) they're already in a pact with an existing character OR b) they're strong enough to materialize on their own. This is because they can't really interact if they don't have a body! Also, in the case of b), your application will only be accepted if there is a plot reason for the Spirit/Shade to be around - be that to aid in existing plots (global plots, character plots, whatev) or to start new plots. Basically, ask the mods first;
- * If there are more applications than available slots, the following will affect which apps will get the spots: plot relevance, originality, the number of characters the applicant already has, and grammar, because we like properly written stuff;
- * Put "IRTFM" in your app >>e-mail title<< to show that you RTFM;
- * Humans under the "prey" category aren't appable unless they also have immunity, since they'd be dead pretty quickly in Countshire;
- * "Pact-Maker" means the person is already in a pact. If you're applying for a human who is still pact-less, they count as normal humans;
- * PBs need to be from an anime or game and can't be 3D-rendered. They need to be in anime/manga style (so no comic-style or realistic characters). They can't be already taken. Avatar is not allowed, don't ask.
- * If your character is a student (or teacher), they need to be enrolled in (or teach in) a course that exists - in other words, one that you can find through this. If a teacher, you can wing it and give them a generic range of subjects to teach (i.e. "CompSci", "Biology", et cetera).
Queue
- If you app for a character but can't have the spot because all slots for the month are filled up, the character may still be accepted, and placed in queue - this means you may start playing them as soon as slots open again. In some cases you may be allowed to start the character ahead of time!
Dropping Characters
- You may drop characters any time; however, the character slot will still count as taken for one more month before it's freed.
Changing PBs
- Yes - but only under special circumstances - ie, a lack of available images or range of expressions. Clear it with both Peradis and Green before you do so and be sensible about it.
Adopting Characters
- No.
