Full Name: Erin Lynn Carter
Online Handle: Injector
Occupation: Modern Dance undergraduate, works part-time as a cook in the campus restaurant.
Dorming:
Erin is a little shorter than average at 165cm, and has a fairly athletic build due to practicing sports and dance often. She has long strawberry blonde hair that reaches down to her waist, which she keeps tied up in a pair of ponytails on either side of her head, and large, expressive brown eyes.
Erin's hair was cut to chin length during the Wonderland event, after having gotten caught in debris that fell on her while she was trying to save someone in a burning building.
She's a bit lacking in the clothes department - actually, when she's not borrowing the dance department's outfits, she has all of three sets of clothes which she cycles through (which means she often pays visits to the laundry area), and exactly two pairs of shoes - a pair of everyday sneakers and a pair of old and beat up running shoes.
Her PB is Raimei Shimizu from the manga/anime Nabari no Ou.
A cheerful and mildly obnoxious person, Erin is pretty oblivious to the feelings of others most of the time. You could be mad at her to the point of nearly exploding and she would be completely ignorant of it, or you could drop five hundred pickup lines at her and she wouldn't notice your intentions unless you spelled them out. On the other hand, she's very sensitive to sadness - if you're feeling even the slightest bit down you could be wearing the biggest smile in the world, and she would be able to pick it up. Not that it helps any, because she sucks 100% at comforting people, but hey.
To most people she'll come off as immature, pushy, a bit childish, and somewhat bossy. It's not that far from the truth, and although she doesn't have much of a life experience due to growing up away from the world (which gives her lots of habits that could be considered rude, such as talking loudly, eating chicken with her hands, reading over people's shoulders, among others), she's had experiences that most people haven't (growing up without parents, having to part with friends often, not having anywhere to go or anything to her name), and while she is in fact mostly immature about everyday things, she's a lot more understanding and emotionally strong than most people you'll meet. Not that she shows that side often, so you still probably want to strangle her.
Having never gotten adopted, Erin watched her friends leave the orphanage one by one, and by the time she hit her teens most of the kids her age were already gone. As a result, she often helped take care of the younger kids, and developed a rather mothering side to her personality. She'll scold you if you go out in the rain without an umbrella, or forget your sweater before going out in the cold, or don't wash your hands before eating - and the fact it can be easily taken as nagging completely flies over her head.
When she takes interest in something, she becomes borderline obssessed with it (read: machines) and will pursue itErin doesn't know her birth parents, nor does she know of anyone who might. Abandoned at an orphanage's door as a child, she spent the entirety of her life until turning 18 years of age in it. "Carter" was the name she was given by the nuns, and the name she kept after she had to leave.
She grew up an energetic child - perhaps a bit too energetic - with a notable love for messing with machinery from a very young age. She started by picking apart small things like toys and clocks, eventually moving on to telephones, radios, TVs, microwaves, and on the day she attempted to disassemble the fridge she was barred from touching any of the orphanage's electronics.
That wasn't quite enough to stop her, however, as she picked up the habit of collecting junk from the street and assembling her own machinery. Initially dismissed as child's play, the girl's talent with machines was eventually noticed by the nuns (when they weren't being driven crazy by it), and - under the promise to not try to take the fridge apart - or the stove, or any important item in the building - she was allowed to work on the orphanage's machinery, fixing whatever broke down (and man, did things break often) and as she grew older even improving the efficiency of the appliances here and there.
It wasn't just in machines that her talents lay, and that became quite obvious when she reached school age - she seemed to have very little difficulty learning anything, and managed basic education without any problems. However, her learning habits were a bit... odd, considering that she constantly needed to relearn things after one week without practice, but considering she would relearn them quickly enough, it wasn't so much a problem as strangely curious.
Her weird talents aside, her childhood and teenage years were fairly uneventful. Her life took a rather drastic turn when she came of age, and had to leave the orphanage - knowing no one and having nowhere to go, she turned to a support group for other young people like her. The group offered simple group homes for them (which barely had enough space for them to sleep in, but were certainly better than no roof over their heads), assistance in finding a job, schooling for those who needed to finish it and athletic training. The group was sponsored by a generous benefactor whose name was undisclosed to its members, not that they cared much, and on occasion they would sign up for local sports competitions in the hopes of discovering a hidden talent.
Well, Erin's hidden talent of optimal learning came in handy when it came to sports - by watching athletes better than her she could easily improve her own performance, and while she wasn't the fastest or the strongest in the group, she performed equally well in every sport she tried her hand at - which, in a competition, caught the eye of a man with a funny accent who offered her the chance to... study abroad? For free? At a prestigious university? And all she had to do was run around a bit, kick a ball here and there and smack things with bats? Seriously?
Sounded almost too good to be true, but hey, what did she have to lose? (Plus they probably had all sorts of nifty machines at big universities...)Her potential comes from her optimal learning ability. Anything she sees someone else doing she can mimic after a few tries, with near perfection. On the downside, she has a memory like a sieve, and tends to forget everything as quickly as she learned it - for her to actually KEEP any knowledge it takes a lot of practice. As a result, right now she's really only talented with machines, and with things that require extensive training such as sports or dancing (which is why she went for that course in the first place).
Also she REALLY wishes she could've gone into engineering, but they wouldn't have her sob sob. She picked Modern Dance as her course because it was more fun than anything sports-related, and it was one of the few courses available to her orz.
She has a part-time job as a cook in the campus restaurant, and also delivers the food she makes on occasion.
She's also almost two years behind most undergrad juniors, no thanks to having nowhere to go for a year.- Hugs too much.
