Full Name: Eli Turcotte
Online Handle: IRC: fourleaves / E-mail:
Occupation: Student; Herbal Medicine (School of Medicine)
Dorming: Eir Court; Room B07
Eli has long, wavy auburn hair and narrow, violet eyes. She carries herself with presence; though only a height of 5'7", she can sometimes come off as aloof and intimidating to others. It isn't rare to find her with a cigarette between her lips.
Eli's wardrobe consists largely of long-sleeved tops and pants. She prefers layers and semi-professional wear, and is never seen in casual clothing outside of her home. She is fond of scarves, and wears them frequently. She has piercings in her ears, but is wearing an un-matched earring in addition to two others.
Her PB is Benika Juuzawa from Kure-nai.
Eli is not exactly the most pleasant person you'll meet. She's brutally honest and sarcastic, and has a habit of not taking much seriously unless she thinks it is attention worthy. She can be arrogant, cutting, and even ruthless with her words, and it's rare for her to regret the things she says. Eli also has the tendency to distrust people, especially adults, despite being one herself. However, in order to see much of this, you'd need to at least have somewhat of a (close) relationship with her, otherwise Eli passes you off as just another person. She is hardly rooted down to life, instead drifting through people without really knowing them, and they knowing her. She rather likes this distance, and makes no action to break it.
In short, Eli is an ass.
Eli was the result of a one-night affair between a man and a woman who had been sweethearts in high school. Out of love for the woman, her father took Eli in to raise her, but his wife was not as thrilled with the idea as he. At first, it was a tolerable situation, but as it became more and more obvious that he would spend more time with his illegitimate child rather than her, her jealousy grew and grew. When Eli began to show strong resemblance to her mother is when her step-mother snapped. She would never have the confidence to act in public, but when Eli's father was absent, her step-mother would treat her very poorly.
At first, Eli couldn't understand why her "mother" acted this way to her, and why her father doted on her like no tomorrow, but as the situation continued, Eli gradually understood. In this understanding, Eli lost her child-like mindset despite her still being a child. She now knew that her father treated her so well because she was a memento of her mother, and that her step-mother treated her so bad because she was a memento of her mother. Eli did not understand their justifications for their actions, and withdrew from both of them. (Not that she was close to her step-mother to begin with.)
Her father was aghast and asked many times what was wrong, but Eli would not answer. Up until then, she had been of the mindset to endure her parent's foolish behavior until she could take care of herself, but... One day, her step-mother took her jealousy too far and hit an off-guard Eli with so much unintentional force that she stumbled into the fireplace. The girl wasn't killed, but she was left with burn scars across her back and on the backside of her arms.
After that incident, her step-mother was taken away and she was put in full custody of her father. Though he tried to give her even more attention and love, it was so much that Eli found it smothering her. At thirteen, she tried to run away, but was caught after a day. This pattern continued, with the girl getting better at hiding, until her father finally said that he would do anything for her to stop pulling that sort of thing. It was an instant request from Eli to be allowed to live alone.
At first, her father was completely against it, but after more attempts at running away and more shunning, he finally consented, on the condition that it be nearby. He tried to tack on a maid as well, but Eli would have none of that. As such, Eli began her solitary life while still a child, and while it forced her to grow rapidly, it was no bother to her. She rather preferred this greatly, after all.
With no distractions, it was easier for Eli to focus in school. She wasn't very involved, though, except for participating in a few extra-curricular activities, namely archery. Because she was living alone, her father also had her signed up for private classes in martial arts. She excelled at these and was content with her life. She attended college at Surrey in England and graduated with a degree in Holistic Therapy. After a fair bit of tutoring other students, she was approached by a mother to tutor her son. Eli wasn't exactly keen on taking the job, but money earned was money earned (she had long since refused to use the money her father continued to send her), so she took it up.
It was then that an interesting relationship built between Eli and the boy, but it was short-lived due to the same mother that had hired her, wanting her to leave. It was almost the opposite situation as her own step-mother, but regardless, Eli stepped down. Though she had intentions of checking up on the boy from time to time, these intentions were never carried out because of an unfortunate accident that occurred not even a week later. Surrounded by a number of young hoodlums, Eli was in the middle of protecting herself when one of them fell into her, and she, in turn, fell into the road.
Just in time to connect with a speeding car.
Though alive, Eli received extensive damage that required her to be hospitalized for many weeks. To make matters worse, her father had been contacted and was at her bed nearly every day. Though the injuries would heal in expected time, there was one that was had no set time of recovery - her memory. More specifically, she had been hit with amnesia; though not global, Eli found it difficult or impossible to recall certain information. (She said that it was a shame she could still remember her father, which in turn caused much emo-ing from said father until she took it back. [sigh])
When she was able to leave the hospital, Eli had much of no choice but to return home- to her father - until he was sure she could live on her own. This was a terrible fate, she thought. It was also a tad annoying that her knowledge gained in college was now splotchy, but there was nothing she could really do about that. Of course, there was also a gap after graduation and something about a boy, but she couldn't remember much more than that, and didn't dwell on it too much. (It was strange how she was missing an earring, though.)
Physically fit, Eli was ready to move out again when she received an invitation to attend Countshire. Since she had already resolved herself to having to relearn things in order to have a firm grasp on the knowledge she had lost, and since it meant living away, despite not understanding why a high-ranking university would want her, she wasn't going to decline Lady Luck this time.
(What she didn't know is the reason why Countshire wanted her; her biological mother, whom she had never met, had actually been a Shade. Her father, an Immune, had been pacted to her until the contract was over, and she had left; he had since then been packed to a few others.)
Practices Aromatherapy, Tae Kwon Do, Archery; enjoys swimming when alone. Uses organic ingredients to cook, loves fruits, but especially berries, tea, cinnamon, and pumpkin pie.
