At 5'7", Darin's lean build and stature are far from intimidating. Add to that shaggy dark brown hair that's scattered everywhere and a pair of black eyes that tend to look clueless more than anything else and Darin's not quite the catch of the day, to put it nicely. He sits quite comfortably on the borderline between cute and street hobo, in fact.

If it's not obvious by this point, appearances aren't what matter to this boy, so he puts very little effort into what he wears. Whatever's conveniently nearby is what goes on, regardless of size or color, so more often or not Darin's pretty much a sight to sore eyes. But somehow, likely because of the overall sloppiness of his appearance, the look works for him. To top off every outfit he ever wears, Darin dons a plain white visor, if only so he can tug it over his eyes when things get too embarrassing for him to deal with; an escape tactic that's not at all very effective.

His PB is Shimura Tokio from the manga Hitomi no Catoblepas.

Personality

Darin, for all purposes, is your typical boy with a few set backs. Thanks to a couple of developed issues, Darin can only find himself behaving comfortably and normally around other guys, though there is some initial shyness. Once he's reached a comfortable place, usually when he's learned the other man's name, he's much more open and talkative. He's relatable, he's... not really intelligent, but at least he's not pure dumb, and he makes the effort to get along with any guy who returns the favor. A real swell guy, most guys would say.

Girls, on the other hand, are a different story. Or rather, Darin doesn't get that girls should be a different story. He's never quite gotten the hang of gender differences and when faced with physical examples of said differences, has a tendency to duck away in embarrassment. He just doesn't know how to deal with someone who requires treatment different from a guy and it shows when he's pulling his visor low on his head and avoiding eye contact.

Background

Darin's background wasn't all that special. Born and raised in a modestly small town in Thailand, Darin spent his childhood going to school, helping his parents with their shop, and playing games with the neighborhood boys. Darin's personal talent at sports, nearly any kind he tried, was apparent from an early age, but the teen himself thought nothing of it. Unlike his second oldest brother, there were no ambitions of becoming a sports superstar in this mind, and while his eldest brother and sister aspired to someday leave Thailand, all Darin wanted to do was play sports in his free time and take over his parents' shop. Like a good boy.

Darin's two eldest siblings, both gifted with copious amounts of intelligence, left Thailand one after the other, attending a prestigious university that Darin never really paid much attention to the name of. He was proud of them, certainly, but life outside of Thailand wasn't his business. He had his own life to take care of; learning shop secrets from his father and keeping a very active sports life at school to please his coaches. When they both established their lives in other parts of the world, Darin thought it would be the last he'd hear of his successful siblings. So when he turned sixteen and his siblings appeared on their parents' doorstep to drag him out of the country, Darin was very confused.

They both had been planning to have Darin attend Countshire, their alma mater, since graduating themselves. They'd each saved up some money from their respective jobs, as well as applied for sports scholarships for Darin and sent videos of his competitions. It would have been very hard for anyone to deny that Darin had the skill to be a star, so by the time they finally got around to telling Darin about it, he was well on his way to being fully funded for college.

Needless to say, the overwhelming amount of work his siblings had put into getting him to college was too much for Darin to say no to. He signed where he was told to, played in front of scouts, and before he knew it, was graduating high school, packed up, and on his way to Countshire with no preparation for the culture shock he was about to go through.

Other

While Darin may lack the intellectual grace of his older brothers, he does have the hand-eye coordination that they both seemed to lack. He's slow to learn things through lectures and instructions, but Darin's body can memorize and pick up motions and actions at the drop of a hat. Add onto this the near inhuman durability and strength gifted to him as a potential and he's the ultimate athlete.
