Character Building Guide
Races
- Humans
- Keep in mind that normal (neither potential nor immune) humans wouldn't usually be at Countshire University unless they're very rich and have contacts, or are lower-ranking staff (librarians, cooks, receptionists, et cetera). Which isn't to say making normal humans isn't good - quite the opposite! Just that it'd be much harder for them to become students or staff.
- Spirits
- Your spirit necessarily needs to be based on a mythological creature/god/legend/etc of some kind, and their powers should be related to the creature in question. For instance, if you apply for a Spirit named Poseidon, ideally he should have powers related to the sea or just water.
- Shades
- The above also applies to Shades, with the catch that the mythological/legendary/etc creature should, preferably, be seen as evil and/or troublesome in some way, or at the very least related to death. For instance, Zeus is unlikely to be a Shade, but Hades could be.
Magicians
: New Families
- If you're applying for a Magician family that has no members, you'll need to figure out some details about the family itself - discuss them with Neon beforehand. This includes ancestry, how they ended up in the country they're in now, how many family members there are nowadays, what they do for a living, how they keep their powers hidden from the general public, et cetera. All families taken now.
- Existing Families
- If you're applying for a family that already has PCs, you should talk to the players of said PCs to figure out how your character could fit in. Apps won't be accepted unless you talk to them first!
- Stray Magicians
- Magicians who are either the children of a spirit/shade and a human, or not acknowledged by any of the main families (a.k.a. bastard children). You're only allowed one of these characters, and they don't know that they're magicians when they start.
Pact-Makers
- Keep in mind that the vast majority of people (and some spirits) are unaware of the possibility of making a pact, or what the process is like. They'd necessarily have to have been taught by someone else, so chances are they either came in contact with Magicians or Order members somewhere along the road, or came in contact with an experienced Spirit that had already gone through many pacts. Also, it's nice to remember that to a normal person this would sound extremely far-fetched, so having your character believe it right away without proof may not be overly realistic.
- Pacts w/ Spirits
- Only humans with the Potential can forge pacts with Spirits, period. Your character needs to be really good at something. If you don't want them to have amazing brains, they can have amazing beauty, or be amazingly good at sports, whatever - but they do have to be amazing at something.
- Pacts w/ Shades
- Being Prey doesn't necessarily mean they can't also be geniuses at something - and in fact, they probably need to be to be in Countshire University in the first place.
Order/Nebelrose
- Order
- If your character is a member of The Order, you should necessarily talk to Green or Peradis first, since they puppet the head of the organization. Things to be discussed include how much they'd know about Order affairs, what their obligations as member are, how long they've been a member, why they were invited, who invited them, and such.
- Nebelrose
- Similarly, you should talk to Lissa and t-chan first since they play the organisation heads. Since the Nebelrose is a much smaller organization, they don't really have much in terms of rank and such, so more important things are how they joined, when, who invited them, what they do as a member, and of course, how they hide it from other people.
University
- Students
- Courses
- Students have to pick a course (this must be stated under "Occupation" in the app). Their schedule is flexible - it's up to the player to decide what the schedule is, unless there's a particular class they're taking that has an already established schedule (listed at the courses section).
- Extracurricular Activities
- They also have the option to pick from several extracurricular activities. These can be decided after the app is accepted. Their schedule is preset, and can be found in the extracurriculars section. If something you'd like isn't listed there, just bring it up with a mod and chances are it can be created.
- Dorming
- The majority of students would live in the dorms - unless they live in Countshire Town and don't mind paying the bus fare every day. You can decide on a dorm after sending in your app - as long as it's available here, you can take up any room you'd like. Keep in mind that en-suite or premium rooms have added costs, so students with scholarships should stay at the standard rooms. If dorming with someone else, contact the other character's player first.
- Courses
- Faculty
- Subjects Taught
- If your character is a professor, then they necessarily need to teach something - you can decide what, and it could be a general category (i.e. "Biology") or a set of specific subjects under specific courses. If you choose the latter, you'll need to specify both the course, the subject(s), what year they're ideally taken in, and decide on a schedule for those subjects.
- Activities Supervised
- All extracurricular activities are supervised by one or more faculty member(s). If you'd like, you can have your character be the supervisor to one (and only one) of them - keep in mind that the schedule shouldn't clash with any classes they teach.
- Dorming
- Staff that doesn't live in Countshire Town would likely live in campus. What was said for students applies here - with the exception that faculty would automatically be lodged in en-suite rooms.
- Subjects Taught
- Other Staff
- Occupation
- Obviously you'd need to decide where they work and what they do - for CR purposes, you probably should choose places that already have students/faculty, or places that everyone goes to such as the campus restaurant and library. You also need to decide on their work schedule.
- Dorming
- Again, staff that doesn't live in town likely lives in campus. Non-faculty staff is lodged in the standard rooms and as such, have dormmates. They can only room with people of the same gender, naturally.
